61 Aldwych

61 Aldwych, LSE, 2025:

Contracted to ACG Architects, working with Studios Architecture (Paris), MCM, A10, BH and EOC on an invited international design competition to transform the existing 61 Aldwych building into a new learning, teaching and research centre.

61 Aldwych is an existing Edwardian building on the junction of the Aldwych and the Kingsway, which sits on the edge of the LSE University quarter. The design proposals look to open out the entrance to create a gateway building that pulls in students, staff and visitors, providing a route into and through the building to the rest of the LSE campus and beyond. Refurbishment works include change of use from commercial office spaces to new learning and teaching spaces that reflect the LSE way of educating. The design is targeting BREEAM Outstanding and part of a wider campus Decarbonisation strategy.

Shortlisted from 19 invited teams to five, then the final two, Runner-up.
